The Lord of All

Acts 10.36

‘The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all)… How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.’

‘The word which God sent unto the children of Israel preaching peace by Jesus Christ (he is the Lord of all).’

That’s our subject tonight, and my desire is to present to you the Lord. Jesus Christ is the Lord of all – the Lord over all. He is good, he’s the Head, he is the Redeemer, he is the Prince of Peace – he is the Lord over all, the Judge over all. He is not just ‘the Lord’; he is the Lord of all, and in all.

That’s very important as we think about the Lord Jesus Christ now my dear friends. How can I be accepted by God? How can I be saved? How can I have fellowship with my Creator? Because he made us, he made you and me, but how to interact with him? What must I do to be saved? Is there anything I can do in order to be saved?

So I want to stir up your mind, if you are still outside the kingdom of God. Now in Acts chapter 10 it’s about Peter preaching to a man called Cornelius, a Roman centurion.  We won’t say anything about him, but we want to say as much as possible in a short time about the Lord over all, the Lord of all, Jesus Christ the Lord of all. That is very important – it’s all really about him, and when you look at it you can see Peter is giving us a summary of the Gospel.

And if you are somebody who has never been to church, or you are not familiar with church, the word gospel means simply ‘good news’, good tidings. But good tidings not from this world, but from heaven. Victorious good news – it’s like a combat and Christ has won the victory over our sins, he has won the victory over the world, he has won the victory over death, he has won the victory over Satan: this is good news, my dear friends, it’s good news.

But the question we are putting before [us is] who is this Jesus? Who is he? Is he knowable? Can I know him? What does he claim to be? Why does he claim even to be what he is? So these are really a few questions we need to think about.
