The Simplicity of Saving Faith

Romans 10.9

‘That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.’

Sermon details

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

To be saved must be simple. God made it simple, otherwise nobody will be saved. Some people complain ‘this is too simple’; it must be simple otherwise you and me will never be saved, we will never find the Lord.

Are you saved? Are you reconciled with your maker? To use the expression of the words of the Apostle Paul ‘we beseech you’, we plead with you, ‘for Christ’s sake be reconciled with God.’ These are the most important questions in life. There will be a day of reckoning, there will be a day of account; all the things we have done in this body, in our thoughts, in our words, in our works, all will be exposed and displayed. For some it will be a shameful day. Because of our condition of being unsaved we are at war with God. Do you know that while you are outside the kingdom of Jesus Christ you have reached a war against God, and you will have to face him one day? Whether you like it or not that’s what the Bible says.
